TacticalSide - Gaming Side Panel Companion ("TacticalSide", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our browser extension handles your data and outlines our zero-telemetry architecture.

1. Summary of Data Collection

  • Zero Personally Identifiable Information: We do NOT collect, transmit, store, or sell any of your personally identifiable information (PII).
  • No Browsing History Tracking: We do NOT track or record your overall browsing history.
  • 100% Local Storage: All user preferences, theme settings, checklist progress, and custom timers are stored strictly locally on your device via Chrome/Edge storage.local API.

2. Browser Extension Permissions Explained

TacticalSide requests specific Chrome Extension Manifest V3 permissions solely to provide in-browser gaming HUD features:

sidePanel Opens the TacticalSide gaming HUD companion directly in your browser's native side panel.
storage Saves user preferences (theme, language), checklist progress, and custom timers locally on your device.
alarms Handles countdown timers and background boss spawn alerts accurately.
tabs / activeTab Detects if the current active tab is a Twitch/YouTube stream or Steam store page to display relevant gaming tools automatically. Tab URLs are processed strictly locally in memory and never sent to external servers.
notifications Sends local desktop notifications when a game timer completes or a deal alert triggers.

  • store.steampowered.com/* & *.epicgames.com/*: Retrieve game pricing and Deck compatibility on store pages.
  • api.telegram.org/*: Used only if you manually configure a Telegram Bot token to send deal alerts to your personal chat.

3. Third-Party Services & External Links

TacticalSide contains direct links to external websites (such as Steam, Twitch, YouTube, Epic Games Store, and Ko-fi). When you click these links, you navigate to their respective platforms, which operate under their own privacy policies. TacticalSide does not share any user data with these external services.

4. Data Security & Storage Sandbox

All your data (checklist completion states, selected language, custom boss timers) stays securely within your browser's local sandbox storage (chrome.storage.local). Uninstalling or removing the extension will completely erase this local data from your computer.

5. Children’s Privacy

TacticalSide does not knowingly collect or solicit any personal information from children under the age of 13.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy periodically. Any updates will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
